- GSM / 4G LTE Wireless Connectivity
-
This phone is designed to work on select GSM networks and is
4G LTE capable. LTE is an advanced cellular network data protocol
capable of data speeds so fast that they compete with wired broadband
Internet providers. With an LTE connection, this phone should have no
problem streaming HD video, downloading apps, uploading photos, or
anything else that requires a high-speed data connection. The phone is
also backwards compatible with 3G and 2G data for instances when you
can't get LTE. In addition to cellular wireless, this phone also
features Bluetooth, NFC, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Note: Not compatible with all cellular networks. Please make sure your provider uses a frequency or band that this phone supports. You can check which bands this phone works with in the Specifications.
- X8 Mobile Computing System
-
The Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System is comprised of a
Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro family processor (1.7GHz Dual-Core Krait CPU,
Quad-Core Adreno 320 GPU), a natural language processor, and a
contextual computing processor.
With the Motorola X8's natural language processor and advanced noise cancelling technology, the Moto X is ready to respond whenever you say "OK Google Now." Just speak that phrase and ask for anything at all: Traffic info, the name of a song, your team's score, a reminder to buy milk, calling and texting information and more. It works when the display is off, even when you aren't holding the phone.
- Rear Camera with 10MP CMOS Sensor and RGBC Color Array
- The Moto X's rear camera features a 10MP CMOS sensor with an unconventional RGBC pixel array for better low light shots. Typical cameras use Bayer RGB (red, green, blue) color arrays to maximize color information, but the Moto X's RGBC (red, green, blue, clear) also uses a clear pixel that lets in a lot more light at the expense of color resolution. Along with the innovative sensor the Moto X also has an LED flash to ensure you can always take a good picture. The front of the Moto X also has a 2MP front camera for video chatting or other uses.
- Android KitKat 4.4
- The Android operating system features a user-friendly interface, and is designed for intuitive multi-touch navigation. You can customize your home screen with frequently used apps and widgets, as well as create folders and shortcuts to things like system settings and bookmarked webpages. With the Android operating system you will also have access to the Google Play Store, which offers a vast library of apps, games, books, music, movies, and more. With native mass storage support, you can interface your Android device to a computer for file management and content sharing.
- Never Miss a Shot
- Whether your Moto X is in your pocket or already in use, just twist your wrist twice and it's ready to shoot. And because you can touch anywhere on the screen, it only takes one hand-and just a few seconds-to get the shot.
- Motorola Connect
- Read and reply to texts, and see who's calling your Moto X directly from your computer's Chrome browser. All without ever having to reach for your phone.
- Motorola Migrate
- Wirelessly transfer stuff from your old phone to your new Motorola phone with Motorola Migrate

.After dropping my HTC One M7, rendering the microphone unusable, I set out to look for a new phone. Many hours later I was torn between the Moto X 2013 and the 2014. I loved the idea of building my own phone with a leather back, custom phrase, etc. But the price and reviews of the 2013 (more than $ less off contract) swayed me to the 2013 version. Out of the box, I was very surprised by the size - smaller than my HTC One. However, like many before me, I find the ergonomics of this phone just right for me. The phone was easy to setup up and transfer files from my old phone.Screen looks great to me, both for internet use and looking at pics/videos. The pics and videos I've taken have been fine; a little darker than the HTC but no real complaints.Battery life has been fine for me as an "average" user - I'm not watching YouTube all day and I don't use social media, but I play a lot of music and text frequently, with the phone lasting about 2 days before I really need to plug it in.Active display is awesome. I love just approaching/waving my hand/picking up the phone and seeing if I have messages or simply what time it is. Moto Assist has worked well in the car for me, reading texts and letting me respond by voice, and starting music right away without me having to scroll through menus. Having the developer edition was not important for me from a rooting perspective (don't really know what it means), I got it to be carrier free and not having all the AT&T bloatware is great. After just over a week with the phone I couldn't be happier, just what I wanted/needed.
